ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed to beef up security on "Chand Raat" and Eid-ul-Fitr across the country.

PM Nawaz has also sought security plans from all four provinces and the federation.

In a statement issued by PM Office, the provincial governments are directed to inform the federation over the security measures being taken on Eid. It also asked the provinces to inform if federal law enforcement agencies were needed to maintain peace in the city.

Earlier, a large number of police, Rangers and intelligence agencies personnel have been deployed at Karachi Cantt Station in the backdrop of security threat while the bomb disposal squad also searched the trains for any explosives.

Sources, meanwhile, say that Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, as per the premier’s special instructions following attacks in Karachi, Mach and Chilas, is in contact with all four provincial governments and security authorities as well to chalk out an arrangement for curbing the recent wave of terrorism across the country, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

Earlier, Nawaz strongly condemned the assassination of army and police officials in Chilas and the killings of passengers aboard a bus in Mach, and directed the interior minister to extend all possible support to federal and provincial law enforcement and intelligence agencies for hunting down those involved. The premier also ordered a comprehensive report on progress in this regard be submitted to his office without delay.
