I was a Snake

I ran,
With an old lady’s bag in my hand
Being chased by two people
Somehow
I managed to trick them
Behind the bushes, I hid
And,
Suddenly, I felt myself
Shivering like a coward.
Feet tired, muscles sore
My whole body in severe pain
My vision getting weak
And then
I just realized
That
I was turning into a snake
I was turning into an invertebrate
My teeth turned into fangs
My tongue
Had split ends
I felt sneaky like a snake
But then again
I was a snake
