Hello dear friends,
I'm learning Hindi/Urdu and Sanskrit in University and started Farsi/Persian about a year ago, too.
But now I have to decide whether I want to continue to do it.
Since my main interest is India/Pakistan, I don't know if the effort to study and read Farsi every day is worth it or if I should better use the time I gain by neglecting it to read more in Urdu.
I started reading Manto's short stories and there seem to be a lot of Persian words, but I rarely recognize any from my Farsi classes, so what is your opinion on it, do you think continuing Farsi will have a great impact on my Urdu or would I be better off just reading/listening more in Urdu itself?
Also, do a lot of Urdu speakers learn Farsi?
Thanks for your help, it is very much appreciated, as I am in a little dilemma right now and don't know what to do
