3. Construction of Girls Hostel
The total number of girls' students in the University is around 900. Most of the girls are from far flung areas and require residential facilities. Almost 150 female students have been accommodated in the old buildings. Another 150 students are on the waiting list for hostel facility. The Prime Minister, during his visit to Hazara University on 26th August, 2006, was pleased to approve a grant of Rs.30.000 million for construction of hostel for girls' students. A detailed project proposal amounting to Rs.34.940 million was submitted to the Higher Education Commission which was approved in the DDWP meeting held on 23rd January, 2007 amounting to Rs.30.000 while Additional Cost of Rs.4.940 million will be met by the University through its own sources. The contract has been awarded to M/s Mumtaz Ali & Co. on July 15, 2007 and will be completed by July 15, 2008.
