Scientists have discovered a way to increase the omega-7 Fatty Acids (FAs), a building block in the production of plastic, in the plant Arabidopsis.
They were able to increase the levels of FAs to around 70 percent in the best engineered plants, making it a promising area of research in the quest to replace petroleum dependence.
