Testing will soon begin on a pill that not only delivers medication, but monitors its effects and transmits data to physicians.
Novartis will begin testing the indigestible chip that is activated by stomach acid, within the next 18 months. Data on the pills effects is transmitted to a patch worn on the patient's skin.
Doctors will be notified if their patients are taking their medications on schedule, and at the proper dose.
