Relationships in Bollywood can be fragile. With co-stars working in close proximity and shooting for long hours, bonds between them are bound to be formed. While some celeb couples have had a rock solid marriage or relationships that has sailed through smoothly past the worst storms, here's a look at five couples whose break up shocked fans and the entire nation.
Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor-
Rakesh Roshan's son Hrithik made his debut in 2000 with Kaho Naa Pyaar Hain, a film that originally starred Kareena Kapoor in the female lead. But due to differences, Bebo walked out of the project. But the one thing that managed to stick was the love that blossomed between the two. At that time, there were strong rumours that Kareena and Hrithik were in a relationship. Hrithik at that time was already in a relationship with Sanjay Khan's daughter Sussanne, who was his childhood sweetheart. But things suddenly seemed to fall apart for Bebo when Hrithik went ahead and got married to Sussanne. It is alleged that Bebo was heartbroken and when she and Hrithik were shooting for Mein Prem Ki Deewani Hoon, the two were not even on talking terms. This came as a shock to all their fans as they hoped that the hit jodi of Pooh and Rohan (Bebo and Hrithik's characters from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham) would become a reality. But this was far from it. Hrithik remained married to Sussanne but after 17 years of togetherness, the couple decided to split and Hrithik issued a statement to the press announcing their decision. Bebo is happily married to the chote nawab of Pataudi, Saif Al Khan.
Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor-
Ranveer Singh and Anushka Sharma-
Ranveer and Anushka had a lot more than just chemistry in common. Both were the subject of ridicule by film maker Karan Johar who did not believe in their potential and he apparently mentioned this to good friend Aditya Chopra who cast them together in Band Baaja Baraat, which would be Ranveer Singh's debut film. But the two proved all wrong. Not only was the film a big hit, their sizzling chemistry on and off screen became the talk of the town. After denying their relationship on an episode of Koffee with Karan, and after being repeatedly questioned about their relationship status, both Anushka and Ranveer fuelled the rumours further. But suddenly the two were hardly snapped together as they were earlier, nor were they seen cuddling anymore. Reasons of their break up are best known to the couple and Ranveer soon got close to his Ram Leela co star Deepika Padukone and the two are alleged dating. Anushka is not one to look back. She has also apparently moved on with cricketer Virat Kohli.
