As-Salaam alaikum,
In Ayat 8 of Surat Tahrim of the Holy Qur'an (66:8), Allah Ta'ala says:--

"O you who believe, turn to Allah with sincere repentance: in the hope that your
Lord will remove from you your ills and admit you to gardens beneath which
rivers flow.."

The Noble Prophet, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, said: "O People! Repent to Allah! Verily
I repent to Allah 100 times everyday." [Bukhari, Muslim].

When we repent unto Allah, it means we turn towards Allah and turn away from sins, which we commit intentionally or unintentionally. This should be accompanied by acts of worship to bring us closer to our Lord. Note that Allahu, Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, says:--

"..And [O Believers] turn all together towards Allah, that you may attain Bliss" (24:31-Surat Nur].

In view of all the foregoing, I wish to invite your attention to that attached booklet titled: "TRUE REPENTANCE IN THE LIGHT OF THE QUR'AN AND THE HADITH", by Sheikh Salim al-Hilali, for your perusal, study and use. In it, we learn of what true repentance is, how to go about it and we see so much about the All-embracing Mercy of Allah... Yes, we need books like this when it comes to reforming ourselves in getting ready for the ultimate journey to the Hereafter. Find time to see/use this booklet, you will be glad you did.
